Las consecuencias de la mecanización del trabajo han sido devastadoras según Partiquino, quien critica la forma en que el ser humano ha perdido tiempo y libertad por esclavizarse ante las máquinas. Si bien, en un inicio se pensaba el avance tecnológico como ayuda para que el ser humano pudiera desplegar su ocio y su creatividad, prontamente se cayó en cuenta del reverso de esto, siendo justamente aquello que el autor critica.
