Intentando comprender la naturaleza del chileno, Partiquino da cuenta de la forma en que es sumamente sobrio respecto al resto de los países latinoamericanos, que brillantes y relucientes en color, dan a conocer todo su florecimiento, mientras que Chile, prefiere abstenerse de esta explosión. El autor establece que el chileno prefiere lo opaco, evita el ridículo y se mantiene en una zona de confort que lo limita a traspasar los límites de la expresión.
