El argumento se centra en la relación de una madre y su hija, Loreto y Amelia respectivamente, ambas de avanzada edad, pertenecientes a la aristocracia chilena. Sus vidas dan un vuelco cuando la Quinta en la que viven es tomada por pobladores aledaños, tratando de construir, en el territorio, sus nuevos hogares.
